AUSTIN – Texas State Senator Nathan Johnson (D-Dallas) today announced his committee assignments for the 87th Texas Legislature. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick appointed Johnson to serve as the Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Administration while also naming him to serve on Business and Commerce, Jurisprudence, Special Committee on Redistricting, and Water, Agriculture and Rural Affairs. “I appreciate the Lieutenant Governor’s vote of confidence in appointing me to the vice-chair position and enabling me to serve my district and the state on these important committees.”
Now in his second term, Johnson has already filed an array of proposals in various policy areas, which have in common the aims of promoting sustainable economic growth and broadening opportunity. As a member of Business and Commerce, the Senate committee charged with ensuring a thriving economic climate in Texas, Johnson expects to play a key role in establishing the North Texas region as a leading force in the state’s economy.
Johnson emphasized that, in addition to his work on these committees, his work on healthcare will continue. His portfolio of healthcare bills include measures to lower private-sector health insurance costs and expand access to care for the working poor.
Senator Nathan Johnson was elected in 2018 to represent the economically and demographically diverse Texas Senate District 16. Johnson practices commercial litigation and lives in Dallas with his wife, Anne, and three children.
